This position is responsible for providing various methods of support and analysis to the HFH Chief Legal Officer and other lawyers in the Office of General Counsel in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of HFH. This position will also serve as a subject matter expert, and educational resource to HFH business leaders and colleagues throughout the organization.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Serve as subject matter expert on assigned matters and projects to support the Office of General Counsel, with a focus on health care law and legal services for the System as a member of the Office of General Counsel consistent with the strategies and priorities of the organization.
·Responsibility for one or more important aspects of the System’s legal work, and regularly interacts with senior management and key administrators on legal problems/issues in particular areas of specialization or expertise.
·Provide legal review, advice and drafting in negotiating commercial contracts for the acquisition of goods and services, for the System, assuring consistency with business terms, policies, and regulatory requirements.
·Advise on a variety of compliance and regulatory matters including fraud and abuse (Anti-kickback Statute and Stark Law), reimbursement, EMTALA, other health care legal, business and risk matters.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
·Juris Doctor Degree (JD) from accredited law school
·Licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan
·At least (3) years of healthcare experience in law firm or in-house setting in the practice of corporate healthcare law preferred, including the laws affecting tax-exempt organizations, with capability covering diverse legal assignments.
·High-level analytical, written, and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
·Ability to work under pressure, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
·Ability to function independently and as a part of a team.
