Qualifications

• Hold a valid Georgia Teaching or Service Certificate at level 4 or higher.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years elementary teaching experience, including evidence-based word recognition and comprehension instruction, required.
• Possess advanced preparation in Reading / Literacy through completion of the Reading Endorsement, Dyslexia Endorsement, or independent training program approved by International Dyslexia Association, required.
• Possess a thorough understanding of reading processes, acquisition, assessment, and instruction; systematic, explicit instructional process;
• instructional coaching approaches and strategies for teaching adult learners; scientific reading research and its application to effective classroom instruction, structure, and practices, as well as intervention;
• Georgia Standards for Excellence (GSE) in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and the new Georgia K-12 ELA Standards;

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS); and, data analysis and application.

• Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
• Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
• Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
• Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
• Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
• Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting / pushing / pulling up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
