Job Summary and Qualifications

• Design and implements the Quality Improvement Program for Kidney Transplant Services.
• Ensures Kidney Transplant Services are compliant with accrediting regulatory agency standards.
• Ensures regulatory reporting is done in accordance with Federal guidelines.
• Supervises the Data Coordinator.
• Develops policies and procedures based on regulations that govern kidney transplant including Medicare Conditions of Participation and OPTN/UNOS bylaws and policies.
• Develops appropriate monitoring tools for use in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program as outlined in the Conditions of Participation for CMS. Assists Data Coordinator in maintaining monitoring tools.
• Creates and communicates the quality reports for the kidney transplant program to the hospital quality department. Participates in peer review for transplant physicians. Assist the medical director in analysis of data as requested. Presents the information at quality meetings within the transplant program, to the hospital quality department, and the executive board of the hospital, as requested.
• Manages the transplant quality meeting process including Transplant Quality Council and PI teams. Develops and directs PI projects.
• Communicates effectively with the kidney transplant team, hospital staff and medical staff both verbally and written form.
• Maintains records required for audits for Medicare and OPTN/UNOS.
• Assists in the development and management of the electronic medical records, transplant database and other databases available within the hospital to capture audit information.
• Coordinates on-site surveys with the hospital quality department for continued certification.

What qualifications you will need:

• Required - Experience in healthcare quality assurance activities OR nursing experience in transplant related field.
• Preferred – Experience in data management and quality assurance activity with a transplant program, management experience preferred.
• Required – RN, Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, experience in use of Excel, Microsoft word and access database.
• Preferred – RN, Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare with 5 years of experience in data management in a Kidney transplant program or other Transplant field.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or has a Compact license.
