General Statement of Duties

This is an important component of the counties' continuum of public safety services. This position is responsible for responding to public safety emergencies in the community.
Essential Duties
This position supervises the agency's CIT Program; provides on-call support to First Responders following an incident, coordinates CIT training for Henrico, and other trainings that promote mental health wellness; provide mental health counseling; and including other duties, but not limited to:

• Coordination and oversight responsibilities for all aspect of the CIT program that includes partnership building, training, the Crisis Receiving Center and community outreach, inter-agency partnership, and relationship building.

• Coordination a comprehensive training programs that includes monthly 40-hour training for First Responders, advanced training for First Responders, and Train-The-Trainer classes for instructors.

• Management of a grant funded program that focuses on outreach to identify high risk individuals.

• Maintain and manage a highly recognized joint project with Henrico Doctors Hospital and Henrico Police centralized crisis receiving center.

• Writing and managing several grants, which include implementation of various aspects, data collection, quarterly reporting and ongoing monitoring and supervision.

• Frequent contact with the Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services and other CIT Teams throughout the State.

• Facilitation of bi-weekly staff meetings and serves as the lead mental health clinician to address CIT issues.

• Supervise a team of six.

Extensive knowledge of community mental health; considerable knowledge and understanding of normal and abnormal human behavior and personality development, substance abuse treatment and etiology, family and group dynamics; extensive knowledge of a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities and ability to perform same with most seriously disturbed clients; extensive interviewing and interpersonal skills; adherence to ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; extensive knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; considerable knowledge of principles and methods of clinical supervision; demonstrated ability to work effectively with other community agencies; knowledge of consultation and education techniques; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment. Some positions may also require basic skills in the field of administration and personnel management, considerable knowledge of the field with which the specialty project deals, and/or ability to establish goals and direct activities toward such goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a two (2) year master's degree in clinical social work, psychology or a directly related field plus three (3) years of experience in a mental health setting (for a one-year master's degree, one (1) additional year of experience or an internship is required to replace the second year of formal training); OR, a doctoral degree in a directly related field with a one (1) year internship in a related setting; OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Candidates must be licensed or qualified to work toward licensure or accreditation for appropriate discipline.
TB Screening and Child Abuse Registry Checks required, upon hire. Valid Virginia Driver License.
