Hennepin County Medical Center is Hiring an Engagement Officer - HH Foundation Near Minneapolis, MN

Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, as well as a clinic system with primary care clinics located in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Engagement Officer - HHF to join ourteam. This full-time role will primarily work on-site.

Purpose of this position: The Engagement Officer develops and maintains relationships focusing on qualifying, acquiring, retaining, and upgrading mid-level donors; and, in the process, identifying and qualifying major gift-level and planned giving donors for Hennepin Healthcare Foundation. The Engagement Officer solicits and closes four- and five-figure philanthropic gifts. This role engages grateful patients, high-level annual, and mid-level donors. They will nurture relationships by implementing communication and donor engagement plans, conducting meaningful donor journeys, and stewardship. The two main purposes for this role are to establish a steady unrestricted revenue stream from individuals and create a pipeline for future major gifts. The Engagement Officer will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of 200-250 qualified prospects and methodically qualifying or disqualifying identified pools of viable prospects. They will cultivate, engage, and steward prospects to create a high-volume but highly personalized connection through various channels, including: phone, email, personal and virtual visits, social media and digital assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Through personal and virtual engagement, identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, close, and steward prospects for mid-level gifts while working on upgrading high-end annual donors into mid-level and mid-level into major-level gifts. Use traditional, social, and digital communications methods to cultivate relationships, inspire giving, and build sustained philanthropic support based on what matters to each prospect and donor. Drive and execute follow-up activity
  • Actively manage a portfolio of 200-250 qualified prospects. Meet activity, impact, and revenue goals through personal outreach and regular meetings. Metrics may include revenue, retention, upgrades, new major gift leads, number of visits, and others
  • Collaborate with major gift development officers and the engagement team to coordinate the effective qualification or stewardship of prospects to ensure effective portfolio and time management across all portfolios and pools, as evidenced by increasing rates of giving and retention
  • Ensure the accurate debriefing and filing of action contact reports and notes for all interactions; ensure the accurate updating of prospect and biographical records and creation of opportunities in Raiser's Edge. Ensure compliance with prospect management guidelines and standards of practice for tracking and information sharing
  • Attend, engage, and support cultivation or fundraising events with a strong donor/prospect presence
  • Creatively identify or design appropriate cultivation or stewardship touchpoints or programming for affinity group members
  • Work with the advancement data team to develop data analysis and goals around the health and strength of the prospect pool, segments, and pipeline and refine the methodology around contact cadence and engagement tactics and tools. Create an annual mid-donor program plan and strategic goals
  • Work may include optional clinical area assignments. Participate in task forces or work groups as needed to execute special projects
  • Actively participate in ongoing professional development around being conversant in multi-channel communication tools, best practices for high-volume and digital experience outreach, and the current landscape of common tools and practices in mid-level giving
  • Adhere to the professional standards and conduct of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy
  • Uphold HHS values and HHF guiding principles and support a collaborative development culture
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of successful experience in a combination of fundraising, portfolio management, donor relations, event planning, writing/journalism, sales, and/or people management

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge Software
  • Knowledge of safety net hospital and public health issues

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Time management, facilitation, and attention to detail are key to methodically working through a prospect pool and tracking and recording information
  • Creative and persuasive writing and communication skills. Patience and listening skills
  • Early adaptor of social media and digital communication tools and current professional and personal active user
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and change management skills
  • Knowledge of CRM databases and experience in tracking moves management within the database
  • Ability to independently manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Means of transportation for donor visits
