Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Director of Data Governance to lead our organization's data governance initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in defining and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to manage, protect, and optimize data assets. The Director of Data Governance will collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of data stewardship, data quality, and data-driven decision-making.

Compensation: Starting at $230,000 Bonus

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy, framework, and roadmap aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
• Define data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, and compliance of data assets across the organization.
• Establish data governance roles and responsibilities, including data stewards, data owners, and data custodians, and provide guidance and support to ensure accountability and adherence to data governance principles.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including IT, legal, compliance, and business units, to identify data governance requirements, assess data risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead the development and implementation of data quality management processes, data classification schemes, and data lineage documentation to improve data accuracy, consistency, and usability.
• Oversee the design and implementation of data governance tools, technologies, and workflows to support data governance activities, metadata management, and data access controls.
• Establish metrics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to monitor and measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide training and awareness programs on data governance principles, policies, and procedures to ensure organizational understanding and compliance.
• Awareness of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and emerging trends in data governance, privacy, and security, and provide guidance and recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 8 years of experience in data management, data governance, or related roles, with a proven track record of leadership and project management.
• In-depth understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks, such as DAMA-DMBOK or similar.
• Strong knowledge of data management technologies, including data governance tools, metadata management, data quality, and data lineage solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement data governance strategies, policies, and procedures in complex organizational environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving results and delivering value through data governance initiatives.
• Experience working in regulated industries, such as healthcare, finance, or government, preferred.
• Relevant certifications in data management or data governance, such as CDMP or DGSP, are a plus.
