Job Title: 911 Telecommunicator/Dispatcher
Department: Sheriff Office
Position: Full Time
Job Duties:
-Answer all 911 calls, which include emergency, and non-emergency calls for police, fire,
and emergency medical services.
-Determine the appropriate call types and course of action based on the nature of the calls.
-Enter information into the computer and relay it to the appropriate agency (Ambulance,
Fire, Law Enforcement)
-File maintenance required by State and Agency policy
Job Qualifications:
High School Graduate, GED or higher
Previous experience is appreciated but Not a requirement
Be of good moral character
Have no disqualifying criminal history
Possess a valid Texas driver’s license
Have flexible availability, be able to work nights, holidays, and weekends depending on
shift assignment
Possess a working knowledge of computers
Have the ability to organize workload and time (multitasking is key)
Have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the
public and work within a team structure
Have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to think quickly
Ability to work under stressful conditions
Clear speech, hearing accuracy
Ability to listen carefully, visual acuity
Ability to deal with the public and user agencies
Ability to remember oral and written instructions, ability to follow instructions
Ability to write clearly and spell correctly, typing skills or keyboard familiarity
Ability to remain calm while dealing with frightened, hysterical or angry callers
