The Pipefitter/Welder Journeyperson position performs all kinds of welding, brazing, threading and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment. This role also maintains, installs and dismantles all types of pipelines, fittings, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers as required for new construction and maintenance.

Essential Functions:

• Provide safe, timely, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of welding, pipefitting and related component installation and maintenance.
• Maintain functional and technical expertise at a high skill level within the Pipefitter/Welder trade.
• Perform mechanical duties such as dismantling, moving, cleaning, repairing and installing facility equipment.
• Execution of maintenance with optimal efficiency, quality and safety. Following all applicable procedure, standards, specification, and guidelines.
• Complete time entry, technical findings, documentation of repairs and elevate abnormal conditions.

Additional Duties:

• High degree of attention required to prevent equipment upsets, where such an upset could cause a building/process
• Works with plant engineering, project engineers, vendors/suppliers, and manufacturers reps on evaluating, approving, assisting, checking, and installation of
• After initial break in period of 6-12 months, job requires employee to be in the on call rotation within his/her specific trade group to be available for emergency work and may require overtime on short
• Wears needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by applicable OSHA and HEMLOCK SEMICONDUCTOR regulations. Always keep his/her work area and equipment clean. Employee must work in a safe manner and follow all pertinent HEMLOCK SEMICONDUCTOR Safety
• Works with/trains apprentices and new
• Communicates job status to customer when complete or leaving for the day

• Knowledgeable in the use of hand and power

• Requires varying degree of working to precision tolerances where amount of damage can be
• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to self, others and equipment when working on plant
• Work involves considerable stooping, bending and working in overhead structures and on scaffolds.

Required Education/Certification:

• For Journeyperson and above: Documented completion of recognized, formal apprenticeship program of 48 months, or have a journeyman’s card and have met HSC P&M hiring requirements. Certification Requirements: Must be certified in various SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW- to include as a minimum, but not limited to:
  • 1A50: CARBON STEEL, SMAW
  • 3A50: CARBON STEEL, GTAW
  • 3A51: 1/2" CARBON STEEL, GTAW
  • 3G50: STAINLESS STEEL, GTAW
  • 3G51: 1/2" STAINLESS STEEL, GTAW
  • 3PR50: NICKLE TO INCONEL, GTAW
• Man Lift License
• Fork Truck License
• Valid Drivers License

Environmental/Working Conditions

• Work in all types of weather. Physical qualifications will be considered due to climbing, working at times in cramped positions and occasionally lifting heavy objects.

Work Experience Requirements:

- 5 years in the Pipefitter/Welder trade and hold the above credentials
