Why our Accountant II – Financial Reporting is Important:
Our Accounting & Finance Department monitors and maintains the companies' financial resources to maximize profitability. Duties include statutory accounting, financial performance reporting, cost analysis, and tax management. This Accountant II role will focus on financial reporting, providing accurate and timely financial information to colleagues and key relevant parties in the organization.
Essential Duties
- Assist in the preparation and closing of the monthly financial statements.
- Review the work of staff accountants.
- Lead projects as assigned.
- Research technical accounting topics.
- Oversee the financials of one or more specific areas of HEMIC with minimal supervision (subsidiaries, premiums, claims, reinsurance, and/or investments).
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or comparable experience.
- Experience in insurance with basic knowledge of investment and reinsurance (preferred).
- Knowledge of advanced accounting principles, methods, theories, practices, and equipment including data processing programs and equipment.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and meet required deadlines.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other employees, management, policyholders, and the general public.
