We are in search of a team of Data Scientists who will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining DoD AI software against cyber threats. This dynamic role is perfect for someone who blends Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with Cyber Security (specifically Insider Threat Defense) in a nnovative DoD environment.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Data Science techniques, classical Machine Learning, and Deep Learning for anomaly detection (i.e. applied classical ML algorithms like Support Vector Machines and decision trees, Python libraries such as scikit-learn for implementing ML models and Keras or PyTorch for developing deep learning models).
  • Jupyter, Spark, TensorFlow or PyTorch (i.e. Jupyter notebooks to create interactive data analysis workflows, Apache Spark for distributed data processing, TensorFlow or PyTorch for building and training neural networks).
  • Technical leadership experience (i.e. led a team of data scientists and engineers in a DoD project).
  • Exemplary technical writing skills (i.e. authored technical reports and white papers on Cyber AI or Cybersecurity Threat Models and mitigation).
  • Prior experience in insider threat detection, fraud detection, or anti-abuse engineering is preferred (i.e. developed machine learning models to detect insider threats within DoD networks, applied algorithms with TensorFlow for behavioral analysis to prevent insider threats).
  • A traditional background in cybersecurity is not required but prior experience using data science expertise to contribute to cybersecurity initiatives focusing on machine learning methods to identify and mitigate threats preferred.

MAJOR TASKS:

  • Support development of insider threat strategy in support of protecting enterprises' technical offerings; balance short-term wins with long-term investments to progressively mature defenses against insider threats.
  • Lead coordination of policy and strategy related to insider threats with industry partners and other DoD components.
  • Lead exploration of data sources that are relevant to measuring, identifying, and defending against insider threats.
  • Provide technical leadership in developing capabilities to detect insider threats among large user communities, leveraging combination of statistical, classical machine learning, and deep learning methods.
  • Write documentation about ’strategic approach to insider threat defense and how it fits within the broader DoD insider threat ecosystem.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical field (required)
Masters degree in Computer Science or related technical field (a plus)
