Job Title: Elementary School Teacher

Position is responsible for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Responsibilities:

• Create and/or implement curriculum
• Plan and execute lessons
• Classroom management
• Email supervisor lesson plans weekly
• Advise parents of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
• Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Create a classroom environment that fosters growth and learning
• Maintain records of student work and development
• Create progress reports and report cards
• Collaborate with Language and Specials teachers
• Differentiate instruction based on student level
• Monitor students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, lunchroom, playground, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Handle social/emotional issues as they arise
• Keep attendance records
• Attend staff meetings
• Report incidents for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to state law.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent prior experience
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
• 1-3 years of successful teaching experience highly preferred (student teaching/internships count)
• Command of grades/subject specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques
