About this Role: Steppingstone Academy is hiring our Saturday Program for the 2023-2024 school year. Classes will be held each Saturday from 10am-1pm with the staff arriving at 9:30am and leaving after the students leave at 1:30pm. We are looking for current undergraduate and graduate students. Join a team of talented educators working with high-achieving high school students (grades 9th-11th). You’ll help us to achieve:
A warm and welcoming community for our scholars as well as a rigorous academic program
You’ll be responsible for:
Assisting Teachers as they deliver rigorous and challenging instructional material, appealing to multiple learning styles
Utilizing effective classroom management strategies during instruction
Incorporating Steppingstone Academy routines and instructional strategies, demonstrating an ability to be receptive to feedback
Monitoring students during classroom transitions and activities and as needed
Providing tutoring, assignment help, and organizational instruction
Being actively engaged and enthusiastic in your interactions with students
Providing a loving and nurturing environment for students
Supervising, mentoring, and assisting assigned groups of students with assignments
Reporting any undesired behaviors or difficulties to an Academy staff member in a timely manner
About you:
Experience working with middle/high school students
Up-to-date clearances/background checks
Demonstrated proficiency in one or more content areas (e.g. Algebra, Biology, English Literature, History)
Experience working with students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Willingness to work collaboratively with other staff and Program Directors to achieve desired learning outcomes including but not limited to:
Community Building
Creating a loving and nurturing environment for scholars
Providing socio-emotional support
Providing academic and technical support

Must meet expectations to report in-person on a schedule determined by their direct manager and/or the Vice President of the team.
Must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter.
Must be authorized to work in the United States and complete an I-9 employment verification form.
Strong orientation to customer service, particularly with regard to students, partners and colleagues
Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and related applications, as well as use of general office equipment (phones, computers, copiers, etc)
Fluency in the use of data and data systems. Maintains appropriate engagement with data entry, reporting and review.
Must adhere to COVID safety guidelines as established by Heights and/or its partners.
All staff should be mindful of the organization’s strong recommendation that everyone maintains an up to date with COVID vaccination and boosters.
Must be able to work in a busy, often complex work environment that is generally climate controlled.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
