Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our team in Everett, WA. As an Equipment Operator, you will support plant needs by ensuring a safe and productive work environment. In this position, you will have the opportunity to use different skills every day as you learn the aggregate industry and fill in for vacancies in various areas of our plant.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Operate mobile equipment on plant property (excavator, dozer, loader, haul truck, etc.)
  • Maintain cleanliness of plant work areas
  • Assist with plant tasks including lubrication, maintenance, repairs
  • Transport materials to and from storage and shop areas
  • Utilize equipment in a manner to maximize productivity and minimize wear and down time
  • Report mechanical or maintenance issues with equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures and rules/laws specified by site, city, state, federal
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, as well as identify and assist in correcting unsafe condition

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must possess a Washington State Driver License
  • Experience using (or ability to learn) plant mobile equipment
  • Desire to work cooperatively as part of a productive team
  • Ability to work safely, and independently without constant supervision and be a team player
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of learning through on-the-job training
  • Good attendance and punctuality a must.
  • Display or have some mechanical aptitude for minor preventative maintenance and pre-shift inspections.
  • Report any deviations from the norm that might impact product quality or processing efficiencies.
  • Ability to work in year-round weather conditions, extremes of hot and cold weather.
  • Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift (up to 75 lbs.), sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders, and walk on varied terrain
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends, and nights may be required.
  • Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Previous experience in an open pit mine, maintenance, cutting and welding, or crushing and screening
  • MSHA Part 46 training
  • Knowledge of environmental care and spill containment procedures

What We Have to Offer:

  • $41.88- $42.88/hour
  • Benefits through the Union for Medical, Dental, Vision and Retirement.
  • Union paid vacation 40 hours (5 days) per year and paid sick 40 hours per year.
  • Union paid holidays seven

Conditions of Employment:

  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
  • Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.

Work Environment:

  • Role operations primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
