Hegira Health, Inc. is Hiring a Children's Psychiatric Residential Program Coordinator Near Canton, MI

Hegira Health, Inc. (HHI), a private non-profit corporation, is one of the largest freestanding behavioral healthcare agencies in the area. HHI, accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State of Michigan, provides a broad array of mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention services to individuals of all ages.

The Children’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) program provides services to eligible youth (ages 9 -12) that have complex, challenging, high-risk needs. The short term, intense, focused mental health treatment program promotes successful integration of youth into their community, allowing the youth to return to their family or community living situation. Services are provided in a six-bed residential setting (Canton) from 90 to 180 days. The PRTF is staffed with a team to provide support and services for the youth.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, specializing in psychology, social work, counseling, or other related human services field
  • Current, appropriate licensure/certification issued by the State of Michigan
  • Three or more years of direct experience providing services to children with serious mental illness.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of diagnostics, psychopharmacology, co-occurring disorders and supportive individual and group treatment approaches.
  • Leadership experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES (summary):

Technical:

Direct Service

  • Provide direct care services, including psychosocial history at intake, treatment planning, individual and group psycho-educational and supportive therapy, and discharge planning.

Clinical Monitoring

  • Ensure clinical capacity is maintained via monitoring of census in coordination with Director and Lead Nurse.
  • Monitor staff delivery of program activities per schedule to ensure compliance with program plan.
  • Report any incidence of staff practicing outside the limits of licensee and established areas of competency to Director.

Personnel

  • Ensure all discipline work schedules are complete.
  • Interview and recommend for hire program staff.
  • Complete orientation and annual performance evaluations.
  • Work with Nurse Manager to coordinate activity with nursing staff.
  • Ensure that all staff completes required training.

Program Planning

  • Responsible for assessing and proposing program improvements as needed in concert with Director, Lead Nurse and community referral sources to maximize access to services.
  • Maintain up-to-date daily program schedule.
  • Participate in annual corporate program-specific budget and service goals and objectives determination meeting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of treatment protocols appropriate to services coordinated.
  • Make recommendations to the Director regarding program changes and/or improvements.

Community Liaison

  • Participate as program liaison to payor sources, community outreach organizations, etc., as assigned.

Quality Management

  • Oversee food service requirements and monitoring per policy and procedure.
  • Facilitate monthly staff meetings and forward meeting minutes to Administration within 7 days of meeting.
  • Complete meeting minutes per HHI policy and procedure.
  • Comply with the following QM requirements: Surveys, Environmental Surveillance and Safety Drills/Exercises

Administration

  • Ensure all MDHHS reporting requirements are being met and completed timely.
  • Complete and or ensure that all admissions have documented authorization for services from the payor source for entire admission.
  • Ensure that assignment of food ordering is completed as directed.
  • Implement changes in policy and procedure as they are provided.
  • Participate in internal and external auditing of clinical records.
  • Completion of corrective actions required based on survey/audit findings.

Facility

  • Adhere to the principles of “welcoming” and ensure residential program and staff are in compliance.
  • Ensure services are provided in a safe, clean, and secure environment.
  • Provide written notification to facilities of needs for improvements and repairs in timeframe consistent with priority of need.

Interpersonal

  • Maintain a positive, professional presentation when in the community.
  • Encourage a cooperative working environment within and between staff disciplines.
