HED, Inc. is Hiring a Remote Technology Designer

We are seeking designers who want to gain exposure to multiple market sectors including Mission Critical, Healthcare, Housing, PreK-12 schools, Higher Education, Government, and Science and Technology. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic,excels at working in a hybrid work environment under the supervision of a Lead Designer/Engineer, is nimble, and enjoys applying their talents throughout all phases of the project, from itsearliest concepts and design through construction administration. HED is looking for designers interested in a varied experience that includes applying their skills to project work, pursuits, and competitions while honing their technical skills on project assignments.
- Support the delivery of Information technology, electronic safety and security, and audio-visual system projects from planning stages to completion under the supervision of the Lead Designer/Engineer.
- Observe BICSI, AVIXA, and ASIS standards and industry best practices in design and product utilization.
- Understand the design intent and assist with its documentation
- Work closely with internal company disciplines providing design to achieve full coordination from inception to project completion.
- Develop cabinet layouts, equipment rack elevations and jack-field layouts, etc.
- Assist with required code research for project assignments
- Assist with material and product research as required for project development
- Participate in internal and/or external project meetings as required by scope and schedule
- Coordinate with the team as directed to provide written documentation where needed
- Assist with responding to requests for information and submittal reviews under the direction of the Lead Designer/Engineer.
- Participate in technical reviews through all phases of the project to meet HED expectations for quality and project performance
- Other assignments as directed by the project team or supervisor
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Commitment to taking Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) designation exam.
- Interest in and enthusiasm for sustainable design strategies.
- Level of experience from newly graduated to five years
- Ability to work virtually and communicate efficiently across geographies with multiple project teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit preferred
- Very detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible
- Ability to work well with others under deadline situations

- Capable of traveling to and from project sites to attend client, project, and construction meetings
- Ability to access existing and new project sites for the purposes of project observation, investigation, and evaluation.
- Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes.
- Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
