As our water treatment technician, you will help operate the co-precipitation industrial wastewater treatment plant, a multi-facility storm water collection system, extended aeration domestic wastewater treatment plants, potable water filtration and disinfecting plants, and other equipment as required. Your contributions will help ensure ongoing success of Greens Creek’s ability to operate in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Here’s what you can expect in this role:

• Operates all equipment associated with the water treatment systems and stormwater systems. Makes process related decisions to maximize treatment options and issues reports.
• Conducts required inspections and maintains logs. Creates work orders to direct maintenance work when required.
• Conducts sampling and other operations required to maintain compliant plant performance. Monitoring and adjusting process controls to regulate water treatment systems such as: flow rates temperatures chemical addition rates including lime, polymer, ferric chloride and chlorine tank levels and pump speeds settleometer operation; and sludge wasting.
• Monitors, in conjunction with maintenance staff, all mechanical equipment and systems required for plant operations and related apparatus. Must understand industrial process controls and water related systems. A background in water treatment and /or Alaska DEC certification for any of the four-state regulated water/wastewater classifications is preferred but not required.
• Assists in training backup operators for interim coverage of processes; works in conjunction with staff on site-wide water systems, including process and storm water facilities. Makes compliance related decisions about stormwater routing on an event specific basis.
• Must be able to work within a team environment and contribute to all safety and improvement related processes.
• Review and updates water treatment procedures.
• Learns and complies with company policy, safety procedures, maintains high level of housekeeping, procedures, and equipment operating standards; maintains attendance and safety within company specifications; knows basic emergency communication procedures; knows and complies with the Code of Conduct and other work policies (HR, Safety and Environmental).
• Other duties may be assigned.
