Description

Position Summary

The Senior Financial and Accounting Analyst is responsible for cash and treasury management, asset management, reconciliation and resolution for critical areas of institutional activity. This position will maintain cash projections and cash needs, manage and reconcile accounts such as, but not limited to, merchant accounts, investment accounts, international importing and reconciliation for our Jerusalem campus, hedging, etc. It will be responsible for processing investment trades and transactions, performing general journal entries, monthly reconciliations, monthly and quarterly allocations, and various other accounting activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Track, reconcile, resolve and analyze all cash activity for various bank accounts that may include general operating, temporarily restricted and donor restricted accounts, endowment, investment portfolio, pension funds, and merchant accounts.
  2. Responsible for collaborating with our Jerusalem accounting team to import, reconcile, analyze and resolve any issues related to the month end close process.
  3. Responsible for gathering and analyzing short-term market information, making recommendations and implementing investment strategies for better utilization of operating cash.
  4. Reconcile, resolve and analyze activity for various supporting systems that may include student services, Raiser’s Edge, PayCom, etc.
  5. Calculate and prepare documentation for a variety of complex accounting activities such as spending policy distributions, scholarships, allocations, restricted cash transfers, etc.
  6. Record activity for various trusts and annuities.
  7. Process payroll imports, withholdings, benefit allocations and reconciliation for such activity.
  8. Monitor, implement and recommend changes, and execute transactions related to donated stock systems, borrowing and hedging vehicles, money center, etc.
  9. Process general journal entries and post transactions in the general ledger.
  10. Prepare and initiate cash transfers for restricted funds, spending policy, etc.
  11. Record activity for fixed assets, prepare subledger information for year end and audit purposes and provide supplemental information for board committees.
  12. Provide timely support to assist the team in an aggressive month end close process.
  13. Obtain statements on individual investment funds and annual audited financial statements and reconcile investment transactions of the College to endowment and custody accounts including the pension.
  14. Attend Investment Committee meetings and prepare trade and subscription documents and amendments and provide support for 403b, endowment, pension accounts and investment accounts.
  15. Assist with the annual audit process including reconciling accounts and preparing various footnotes and statements.
  16. Lead, manage and support special projects as requested to provide automation and increase efficiencies in the department.
  17. Prepare a variety of monthly, quarterly and annual reports for leadership as requested.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Preferred: Masters in Accounting, Business or related field

Experience

  • Required: Five years in accounting with some treasury experience
  • Preferred: Senior accountant level experience
  • Preferred: Treasury/Investment experience
  • Preferred: Experience in higher education or non-profit
