Heartway Corporation - York Manor Nursing Home is Hiring a CMA Near Muskogee, OK

Heartway is a non-profit organization. York Manor is a small 45 bed facility.

We pay an additional $3 per hour over your base pay for every hour worked each pay period. We also offer quarterly retention bonuses up to $500. Our extra pay incentives of the additional $3 per hour for each hour worked along with the potential for the $500 per quarter retention bonus gives our employees the chance to take home an additional $8,240 per year in addition to their base pay!

If you are interested in coming to work for us, and your employer offers you an additional $0.25 cent per hour raise to stay with them - that raise basically equates to $520 per year.

POSITION SUMMARY

The overall purpose of the Medication Aide position is to administer oral and topical medications to residents. Medication Aides perform these tasks as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations, and consistent with facility policies. The Medication Aide also performs routine daily tasks required in maintaining the health, comfort, and well-being of the residents. .

Essential Functions -

  • Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any State and Federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
  • Is knowledgeable about and assures compliance with all company policies.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of "five rights" of medication administration.
  • May take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as may be required by certain medications.

· Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.

  • Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse on the appropriate shift.
  • Administers PRN medications in accordance with State and Federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
  • Must be able to push/pull medication cart for extended periods.
  • Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Documents reason for and response to PRN medications in a timely manner.
  • Properly secures medication carts/medication rooms per State/Federal regulations and facility policy.
  • Attends facility education inservices.

Other Functions -

  • May make observation rounds der the supervision of the licensed nurse (or charge nurse) on the shift.
  • May supervise nursing assistants/orderlies as assigned by the charge nurse.
  • Follows facility safety policies and guidelines in effect (facility, State, Federal).
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

TYPICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • State certification as a nursing assistant mandatory.
  • State approved medication administration certification (where required).
  • Complete familiarity with duties of a certified nursing assistant.
  • Highly developed observation skills are desirable.
  • Functional literacy in English is required.
  • Tolerance, patience, empathy and concern are desirable.
  • Vision must be adequate to read medication labels, etc.
