Description

HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) Nuevo Camino program is dedicated to providing 38 unaccompanied minors, ages 5-12, with a supportive, nurturing environment through transitional foster homes, daily education Monday - Friday, and supportive wrap-around services in the Brooklyn section of New York City. Our program is rooted in ensuring that service delivery is trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and tailored to the needs of each child while maintaining all program requirements of ORR.

Nuevo Camino is looking for a Youth Counselor providing supervision, support, and direction to children in the Unaccompanied Minor program while promoting growth and development; completes all required logs, forms, and reports, participates in meetings as scheduled; accompanies groups or individual children for outside activities, transfers, or appointments as scheduled.

Nuevo Camino is looking to hire staff to fill the following:

Shift A:Monday-Friday7am-3pm

Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor and supervise youth in the program to provide a safe, clean, and secure environment.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, hospitable, and professional atmosphere.
  • Facilitate groups or individual activities; accompanies and transports youth to outside activities (including supervised recreation) and appointments as required.
  • Assist with lunch and snacks for youth.
  • Help maintain consistency in the delivery of services and with regard to programmatic policies.
  • Document daily services, and maintain client charts, progress notes, and group notes.
  • Communicate with the treatment team and program supervisors.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and regular supervision.
  • This is a 24 hour facility and overtime may be required for this role as needed.

Sign on Bonus: $500

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Driver's License Required
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Training/Experience in youth social services required.
  • Must be highly organized and able to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with a team.
  • Strong interest in working with immigrant young persons.
  • Computer knowledge and writing skills.
  • HSVS requires all new hires to provide proof of vaccination prior to their start date. Employees who require an accommodation for medical or religious reasons should notify Human Resources.
