Job Summary

The Foster Family Recruiter is a critical position within Foster Boarding Home Program at Heartshare St. Vincent's Services. This role will report to the Vice President of Family Recruitment, Support, and Matching, and collaborate closely with other members of the Home Finding Team. 

The person in this role will be responsible for identifying and outreaching individuals interested in becoming licensed foster parents, and then guiding them through the licensing process; including delivering training, conducting home assessments, and submitting clearances. This person must be outgoing, internally motivated, detail oriented, and interested in engaging strangers in conversation about foster kids. This person must be committed to ensuring that youth in foster care have access to safe, supportive, loving, and stable foster homes.

In order to drive recruitment forward, HSVS has attached financial incentives to achieving recruitment targets annually. When HSVS achieves city established recruitment numbers, each agency recruiter will be issued significant additional compensation.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Family Recruitment, Support, and Matching, this person shall plan and implement foster family recruitment in Brooklyn and Queens
  • Promote the HSVS foster care program in the community, including at community organizations and events, religious organizations, and other networking opportunities.
  • Network our current foster families to identify individuals interested in becoming foster parents.
  • Develop marketing techniques and strategies to engage prospective foster parents for specialized groups, with a focus on our Special Medical Foster Care program, and our Therapeutic Foster Care Program.
  • Build applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining rapport.
  • Maintain the highest level of responsiveness and follow-up with all prospective families- responding to all outreach quickly, positively, and helpfully.
  • Maintain data entry and foster home files accurately and up to date at all times.
  • Use excellent judgement to ensure that all prospective families will provide a safe, supportive, loving, and stable foster home to youth in foster care.

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field strongly preferred.
  • Child Welfare experience preferred.
  • MAPP Trainer certified preferred.
  • Bi-Lingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Autonomous, resourceful, collaborative, and adaptive.
  • Experience in working with diverse communities, and knowledge of multicultural issues including race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender expression.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Spanish fluency preferred.
