Job Summary:

HeartShare Human Services- Energy Assistance Department administers six (6) assistance programs for the major utilities throughout New York State, which help residents of New York State pay for heat, electricity and food. This department also holds community events and workshops regarding all assistance programs and services.

We are looking for an experienced office assistant with general IT tech knowledge to join our dynamic Energy Department! If you are a self-starter and motivated and looking to begin a career in the Human Services field we encourage you to APPLY!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Program Specialist to manage the flow and exchange of information across Energy department program areas and various department projects.
  • Serving as the Energy Department second liaison in communication with community-based organizations and utilities.
  • Assisting with client management and program applications.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing customer calls and written correspondence in a professional and timely manner, ensuring follow up on all customer issues.
  • Preparing, reviewing and submitting program area reports for review by Energy Department executive staff and utility companies.
  • Representing the Energy Department at community outreach events.
  • Provide basic IT support/Helpdesk support to staff members, including troubleshooting software and hardware issues and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Manage and maintain office technology equipment such as computers, printers, and telecommunication systems. Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and software.
  • Assist in the implementation of IT policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of office systems.
  • Collaborate with the IT team members to escalate and resolve complex technical issues while staying updated on emerging technologies and IT trends to provide innovative solutions and improve office efficiency.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • At least 2 (two) years of relevant experience in community relations or customer relations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle heavy call volume.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manager competing deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively and in some cases independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and social media skills.
  • Understanding of IT concepts and willingness to learn and develop IT skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with basic IT tasks such as software installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with computer networking concepts and protocols.
  • Experience with cloud-based productivity tools such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office 365
  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Experience with help desk or customer support roles.
