Salary Range: $17.92 - $17.92 Hourly

Description

The activity specialist will have specialized skills and expertise in one or more discipline or content are to lead and implement an activity such as arts, dance, STEM, literacy, nutrition or organized sports. Regardless of discipline, activities are to be sequenced, skill-building activities.

Activity specialists must be available to work Monday -- Friday 2-6 PM. AND Saturday 10AM TO 5PM 

Qualifications


DUTIES:

  • Assist in the development of age appropriate activities in one or more discipline or content area
  • Provide direct supervision of youth activities
  • Assist in maintaining daily attendance records for program participants
  • Assist in the provision of basic counseling services as needed (peer mediation, self-control, decision making)
  • Accompany youth on cultural and recreational field trips
  • Assist in ensuring a safe environment for program participants
  • Actively participate in all professional development sessions, supervision and team meetings
  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures
  • Assume other duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma and two years' experience working with youth or an Associate's degree in child development, recreation or a related field.
  • Must be able to work in Coney Island, Brooklyn.
  • Activity specialists must be available to work Monday -- Friday 2-6 PM.
