 Location: Chicago, IL, Effingham, St. Louis, MO, and Indianapolis, IN areas

We are looking for an energetic and ambitious individual who can help to advance Heartland Dental’s Corporate Compliance Program to ensure employees and field members have the resources they need to maintain high levels of corporate compliance, which covers both internal policies and procedures as well as federal and state laws. Due to anticipated growth over the next three the five years, Heartland Dental is looking to expand our Compliance Team! As a Compliance Program Manager at Heartland Dental, you must be capable of handling a substantial workload in a fast-paced, dynamic compliance department. You’ll thrive in this role if you have strong communication skills and are a detail oriented, proactive, problem solver. This position will play a critical role supporting the Compliance Department’s processes and projects. The position reports to the Corporate Compliance Officer and will also support key initiatives (goals) of the department.

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

  • Instill a strong commitment in yourself and others to uphold our mission, vision and core values while providing a world class customer service experience at every point of contact with supported offices, team members and vendors. Support cultural alignment of the Compliance Department throughout the Company and supported offices by implementing the Company’s core values into messaging and principles within the compliance function.
  • Assist CCO with ensuring compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Stark, and Anti-Kickback regulations and assist with the ongoing development and maintenance of related policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance and privacy vulnerability and risk, develop corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Perform legal research and utilize reliable sources to keep abreast of regulations/developments relating to dental offices and the practice of dentistry and answer internal customers’ questions quickly and accurately. Stay current on changes in legislation affecting dental offices and the practice of dentistry with a goal to consistently improve overall compliance.
  • Assist CCO in maintaining an enhanced systemwide billing and chart monitoring system and/or process for monitoring of ongoing compliance.
  • Conduct legal research necessary to assist with management of day-to-day operation of the Compliance Hotline and Compliance Program to ensure compliance issues are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved.
  • Support CCO with regular reporting to keep Corporate Compliance Committee, Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, and senior management informed of the operation and progress of the Compliance Program.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state laws related to compliance and privacy to ensure appropriate organizational response to emerging laws.
  • Partner with CCO to develop, initiate, maintain and revise policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state laws for general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Support with Compliance Departmental goals to help move the department forward, taking on assigned tasks as needed to best support doctors and their teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Travel twice a year to Effingham, IL.

  • Minimum of five years compliance experience, including experience with HIPAA/Privacy issues, billing and auditing, and policy/procedure management.

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and legal research skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Results-oriented with ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers in a collegial manner to accomplish common tasks.
  • High level of maturity, personal initiative and sound judgment.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with flow-charting, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Excellent skillset in developing creative and easy-to-understand PowerPoint presentations.
  • The position will have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job-related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; and the individual will need to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.

  •  Location: Chicago, IL, Effingham, St. Louis, MO, and Indianapolis, IN areas
  • Dental industry experience
  • Multi-site healthcare experience
