About the Scrum Master Role:

The Scrum Master – Continuous Improvement will be responsible to train and mentor agile and Lean teams, leaders and executives within the organization to leverage principles, practices and frameworks to deliver high value business capabilities. They are responsible for driving sustainable improvements across the organization by delivering breakthrough results in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale while supporting the Hearthside Performance System (HPS) policies and procedures. The scrum master removes impediments for agile teams and helps the team remain successful and on schedule. They must have a sufficient understanding of technology to enable them to lead team members and help them overcome their development roadblocks; they must also understand business strategy and objectives, and be able to ensure that development work is prioritized by business value and results align with objectives. Travel required 60 – 70% to plant location for Sprints. Position will be remote when not on Sprints.

Job Duties:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Train, lead, facilitate, and coach Agile Sprints and Kaizen events to drive sustainable improvements across multiple locations
  • Act as the organization’s Agile and Continuous Improvement Champion and change agent through the encouragement, education and communication of benefits of Agile. Build cultural change throughout the organization.
  • Scrum master for multiple agile initiatives across the organization driving adoption and embedding new ways of working
  • Leverage resources and share best practices across multiple plants when possible
  • Perform theory of constraints, identify the constraint, and implement practical and effective solutions to improve throughput
  • Understand key business objectives and strategy of the product, and communicate this to the team.
  • Establish and monitor key metrics that are tied to business outcome, quantitively and qualitatively measure impact and performance. Create a baseline, develop mitigation plans for any under-performing metrics and add these metrics to measure within HPS.
  • Facilitate process of working with product owner and team to re-balance and re-prioritize work within a sprint. Facilitate and coach problem solving tools.
  • Advises at all levels of the organization to provide expert advise and guidance related to Agile mindsets, methodologies, and measuring success.
  • Track and analyze the performance initiatives and sustainment across multiple projects simultaneously. Responsible for managing multiple projects at the same time coordinating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and review/retrospective sessions with rest of employees
Required Competencies & Knowledge:
Knowledge of:
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP
  • Deep understanding of Agile development processes and methodology
  • Sufficient understanding of technology/business to lead Scrum team and assist in overcoming roadblocks
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and execute on a business strategy
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills
Skill in:
  • A strong application knowledge of Agile Methodology and LEAN Manufacturing techniques.
  • The Agile and Continuous Improvement Master should possess extensive technical skills and hands-on experience in continuous improvement manufacturing activities
  • Bias for action, change agent, challenging the status quo
  • Strong will to drive change and influence without authority
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with autonomy.
  • Must be accurate, detail-oriented and maintain the utmost confidentiality.
Ability to:
  • Effectively present information to employees, top management, public groups and/or board of directors.
  • Define problems, collect and calculate data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule form
  • Work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, while at the same time making sound decisions.
  • Drive change and sustain results
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Engineering, Business or Operations.
  • Bakeries experience a strong plus
  • 2 (two) – 3 (three) years’ experience in the Continuous Improvement
  • 1 (one) – 2 (two) years’ in a manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Recommended 2 years’ experience as a scrum master/Scrum master certification
