Stellar Hearth Products, a division of Hearth and Home Technologies, is hiring a Buyer/Analyst at their Lakeville, MN location. Stellar creates unique and custom gas fireplaces to meet the unique needs and desires of our customers.
Essential Functions

• Investigate and research new products and designs of materials as dictated by NPD (new product development).
• Within the guidelines of Corporate Roles & Responsibilities, interview vendors to obtain information relative to product quality, price, service, delivery and ability to supply.
• Review proposals and obtain samples from suppliers and work with appropriate Commodity Manager to achieve desired terms of business.
• Prepare and draft purchase orders for the purchasing of raw materials, customer service materials, and/or purchase for resale product. Gains Corporate Procurement approval on contracts. Holds suppliers accountable to agree upon contracts.
• Run reports and analyze data to set, audit and expedite deliveries in support of customer shipments, production and/or maintenance schedules.
• Determine what is driving extended lead times and ensure system is updated to reflect stock shortages.
• Determine, recommend, establish and administer proper inventory levels for both on hand inventory and consignment inventory by checking the system and doing in person visual checks.
• Maintain accurate inventory balances and minimize obsolescence cost exposure.
• Develop standard costs for purchased materials and maintenance of existing parts files.
• Initiate and process return materials and debit memos.
• Conducts sourcing and selects suppliers when directed by commodity manager.

Skills and Abilities

• 2 years of experience in buyer role.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Professional certification (CPM and/or APICS) preferred.
• Ability to understand the item master/part set in the MRP.
• Highly analytical and ability to analyze complex data as part of the decision-making process. Able to use data to support decisions.
• Superior communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with external vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing environment preferred
• Functional knowledge of procurement management procedures
