Heart of the Desert, Inc is Hiring an Event Coordinator Near Alamogordo, NM

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Event Coordinator serves in a unique partnership with our offsite marketing services consultant, our regional store manager, and the owners of Heart of the Desert Pistachios & Wines. The Event Coordinator reports to the Regional Store Manager.

The coordinator works independently in coordinating, organizing, planning, and executing private events on The Patio. Outstanding customer service is required. The candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent communication skills.

An event cell phone is provided, allowing the coordinator to arrange appointments and communication with potential clients. Appointments are scheduled by the coordinator to occur during regular store hours. Staffing for all events must be coordinated with the Regional Store Manager. Office hours are maintained as necessary to keep up all contracts, paperwork and client appointments. Attendance every other week at the store staff meeting is required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Communicate effectively with clients, vendors and customers regarding The Patio and event inquiries. (including informing the Heart of the Desert team of the event schedule)

2. Train and supervise event staff before and during events.

3. Help clients achieve a successful event by guiding them through the process.

4. Think and plan proactively to make sure event details are not missed.

5. Accurate billing of evets/financial records.

6. Assist with set-up and tear-down of events; moving tables/chairs/placing linens/etc.

7. Run wine and beer bar by providing drinks and processing payments.

8. Supervise events to make sure it is a safe environment. Protect property from damage.

9. Know Alcohol & Gaming guidelines for alcohol sales.

10. Know Food Safety Rules

REQUIREMENTS

1. Must be 21 and able to acquire an alcohol server’s license.

2. Have a food Handler’s certification (can obtain after employment)

3. Have a valid driver’s license

4. Open availability and flexibility to work varied schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays to meet the needs of the business.

5. Physically fit: able to bend, stoop, twist, stretch, lift objects overhead, ascend and descend stairs/ladders, lift up to 30 lbs, and stand and/or walk for more than four hours per day.

6. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)

7. Basic English writing skills with an emphasis on grammar and spelling

8. Event, restaurant or bar experience.

9. Retail experience helpful.

10. Ability to perform simple arithmetic and run a cash register.

11. Clean, well-groomed appearance.

12. Excellent customer service skills with a smile.

13. Ability to think on your feet and able to provide solutions.

14. Outgoing and enjoy working in a small team atmosphere.

15. Drug free (able to pass random drug tests as initiated by company)

This position will have carrying hours depending on the schedule of events. The Patio is minimally active during the four coldest months (Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb.,). There may be opportunity to work in other department during this time period, if that is desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
