Hearst is Hiring a PMO Director Near Tampa, FL

The PMO Director will have extensive experience in Project Management, will manage and mentor team members, assess and manage resource loads, and drive organizational effectiveness and accountability for our CareProminence solutions. The PMO Director also facilitates planning, prioritization, and collaboration between groups, maintaining excellent communication with all levels of management and clients. Additionally, this Director will focus on both strategic account teams and deliverable resources and is responsible for developing and enforcing efficient and effective methods and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and align the PMO's objectives and strategies with the organization's goals and vision across both the operations and development organizations.
  • Project Portfolio Management: Oversee the selection, prioritization, and management of the organization's project portfolio to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Project Governance: Establish and enforce project management standards, methodologies, policies, and procedures across the organization.
  • Resource Management: Optimize the allocation of resources, including personnel and budget, to support project delivery.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track project progress, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular reports to stakeholders and senior management, including hours management for all projects managed by the PMO.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring appropriate risk management processes are in place.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality standards and ensure that projects are delivered to meet or exceed the defined quality criteria.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, including senior management, project teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Change Management: Develop change management strategies and processes to effectively manage organizational changes related to project initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvement initiatives within the PMO and across project management practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the financial aspects of project management, including budget development, monitoring, and cost control.
  • Talent Development: Identify skill gaps, provide coaching and mentoring to project managers, and promote professional development opportunities within the PMO.

Essential Duties

  • Ensure that all projects are proceeding according to timelines, meeting targets and expectations, and negotiates changes in project resources as necessary to achieve objectives and timelines 
  • Collaborate with functional areas in the supervision of project personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions 
  • Lead Managers and Team members to conduct project audits in coordination with Finance. 
  • Conducts project reviews with Senior Leadership of the company, including planned vs actual for project cost, schedule, budget, and milestone progress
  • Coordinate project resources, including project managers, technical experts, and other staff, to ensure that project objectives are met.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and financial plans, including tracking project costs and managing project resources to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Develop and implement project management tools and software, including project management software, scheduling tools, and other project-related software.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders, including clients, project teams, and senior management, to ensure that project objectives are understood and align with MHK’s internal strategy.
  • Analyze project data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and to ensure that project goals and objectives are being met.
  • Lead project risk management efforts to identify and mitigate project risks and to ensure that project deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers and project teams, including training and development, to ensure that projects are managed effectively and efficiently

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Eight (8) years’ experience in a PMO leadership role, including leading and managing teams, setting strategic goals, and overseeing the successful execution of projects. This Director will have proven career experience overseeing the successful execution of projects, developing project management standards, and leading a PMO.
  • Healthcare Knowledge required: Strong knowledge of the healthcare and health plan industry, including an understanding of healthcare software systems, regulations, and industry trends, is crucial for effectively managing projects within a healthcare software company.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for effectively communicating with project teams, stakeholders, and senior management. The ability to build strong relationships and manage stakeholders' expectations is vital for success in this role.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: A Director of PMO should possess strong analytical skills to assess project data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. You should be a skilled problem solver, capable of resolving complex issues that arise during project execution.

Education/Certification

  • Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as project management, business administration, or information technology is required.
  • Project Management Certification: Holding a recognized project management certification, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2, demonstrating a solid understanding of project management principles and best practices.
