Essential Job Functions
- Answer incoming calls, which may include screening calls, taking messages, and providing information to patients, physicians, providers, hospitals, and staff.
- Document correspondence in the patient's medical record. Update demographic and insurance information in the Athena EHR.
- Verify insurance and network status using payer portals and/or calling insurances
- Coordinate internal schedules and booking patient appointments.
- Ensure all necessary medical documentation is processed according to standard procedures.
- Ensure communication with patients, scheduling team members, and internal departments are accounted for and each party has a clear understanding of pertinent information in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with clinic staff to follow up on patient requests.
- Responsible for administrative duties including scanning paperwork, data entry, and general organization.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect business operations by keeping information confidential.
- Manage team member schedules.
- Manage team member employment relations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 - 3 years scheduling experience
- 1 - 3 years supervising/lead experience
- Possess an understanding Insurance Plans ie Medicare vs Medicare Advantage
- Computer skills- EMR and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent Interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
Physical RequirementsAthena EMR experience preferred
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Typical office environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
