Lactation Educator/Consultant and Lactation Room Technician Part-time In Person Downtown LA

We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), or Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to join our team as a lactation educator, parenting guide, and lactation room technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing lactation education and general parenting guidance to parents in need of support. As well as visiting client sites in LA and surrounding area to service and maintain workplace lactation rooms. The position is part-time, with a schedule of about 12 hours per week, 2 days a week.

The ideal candidate has previous experience working independently and is comfortable working in corporate environments. You should be an expert in educating and navigating the lactation experience for a working parent.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, service, and maintain lactation rooms for corporate clients in your geographic area.
  • Ensure communication is professional and inviting, and quickly able to build rapport using approved company systems.
  • Present a professional image at client sites and answer customer questions regarding products and services.
  • The ability to drive across Southern California and have your own reliable vehicle, and able to fly to other states for day trips.
  • Responsible for maintaining organized lactation rooms and providing detailed records of each site you visit using Healthy Horizons tools and software.
  • Provide lactation education to new mothers to help them successfully breastfeed their babies.
  • Assist mothers in overcoming common breastfeeding difficulties such as latching difficulties, engorgement, sore nipples, low milk supply, and more.
  • Provide guidance on infant nutrition and feeding schedules.
  • Offer support to parents in their parenting journey and answer their questions.
  • Provide childbirth education (training available if needed).
  • Help mothers with breast pump selection and usage.
  • Teach classes and meet with parents to provide education.
  • Experience with small group dynamics and in leading small groups.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all patient interactions.
  • Maintain breast pumps and amenities for parents.
  • Stay current with the latest research and developments in lactation and parenting education.
  • Expereinced with basic health education and adult learning theory.
  • Develop related health education support materials related to courses taught.
  • Attend regular virtual company meetings, be available for emergency needs if they arise, and other duties as required or assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) is required. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is not required but preferred.
  • Doula certification is not required but preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, child development, community health, public health, lactation, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience in providing lactation education and general parenting guidance by teaching classes and supporting parents directly.
  • Knowledge of breastfeeding techniques, infant nutrition, and child development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excited about working with infants and parents.
  • Excellent organization, versatility, and a willingness to meet goals with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to walk several miles around large corporate campuses and able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Self-directed and able to find your way around a variety of corporate offices.
  • Tech savvy
  • Computer and administrative skills (Google Suite, calendar, PowerPoint, time management, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to client sites (vehicle, airplane, public transit). Have active car insurance, a driver's license, and a good driving record.
  • Pass a drug test and background check in accordance with local regulations.
  • First series of the COVID-19 vaccination.
