SUMMARY The Cleaning & Maintenance Leader oversees all aspects of cleaning and maintenance operations within the facility. They are responsible for ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and functionality of the premises. This role involves managing a team of cleaning and maintenance staff, coordinating schedules, and implementing procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. This role allows active participation in creating ethos and structure of this essential department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Supervise and lead the cleaning team and handle scheduling as well as working scheduled cleaning shifts.
• Develop and implement cleaning and maintenance schedules to ensure all areas are regularly cleaned and maintained.
• Inspect premises regularly to identify areas requiring cleaning or repairs, ensure cleaning team is meeting and maintaining cleaning standards.
• Execute preventative maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized cleaning or maintenance services. 
• Train and coach Team Members on proper processes and standards.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and order replacements as needed.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in cleaning and maintenance.
• Enforce safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Be comfortable with technology, communicating with manufacturers and working in tandem with company IT team to resolve equipment issues.
• Monitor budgetary constraints and ensure cost-effective cleaning and maintenance solutions.
• Collaborate with other departments to address cleaning and maintenance needs in shared spaces.

This Cleaning & Maintenance Lead must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to demonstrate they can perform the essential functions of the job, along with the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role in cleaning and maintenance operations. 
• Proficient in general maintenance and mechanical systems
• Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, and external vendors.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to handle unexpected challenges.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED 

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Additional certifications in cleaning or maintenance are a plus.
• Past maintenance position preferred.
