Description

Job Title: Occupational Medical Physician (Part-Time)

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico

Job Summary:

As part of our dedicated team at the Newport News Nuclear (N3B) BWXT Los Alamos project, we are looking for a part-time Occupational Medical Physician to oversee and deliver high-quality occupational health services. This position plays a crucial role in diagnosing and treating work-related illnesses and injuries, developing preventive health programs, and ensuring workplace health and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of medical knowledge, a passion for occupational health, and a commitment to employee wellness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of occupational illnesses and injuries.
  • Develop and implement occupational health programs, including pre-employment screenings, periodic health evaluations, and surveillance for work-related health risks.
  • Advise on rehabilitation and return-to-work programs for employees recovering from work-related injuries or illnesses.
  • Collaborate with occupational health nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and safety officers to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Participate in the development and enforcement of health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide expert consultation on occupational health matters to management and employees.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend preventive measures to mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Lead health promotion and disease prevention initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all employees.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in occupational medicine and integrate best practices into patient care and workplace health programs.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Valid state medical license and board certification in Occupational Medicine or a related specialty.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational health or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health regulations, including OSHA standards and workers' compensation.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage health programs and initiatives.
  • Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in the treatment of employees.
