Job Summary and Qualifications

The Contract Analyst is responsible for providing analytical and contract support to the HCA Contracting Team and the HCA Division Supply Chain Teams.

This individual is responsible for coordinating, formulating, executing, and implementing the necessary spend/cost reports that are required by the HCA Division Supply Chain Teams and the HCA Contracting Team. This includes supply expense and compliance reports, savings reports, inventory reports and other reports as requested. In addition, this role is responsible for data mining and analysis needs to evaluate product use trends, utilization, new technology and other relevant data elements that are important to our supply cost agenda and goals. Finally, this role will be responsible for providing support to the HCA Division Supply Chain Teams and the HCA Contracting Team for contract document finalization, managing the loading of products and pricing, coordinating efforts and review with our legal team.

Position's key area of focus will be sourcing initiatives that are primarily categories with medium to high spend, complexity, risk and sensitivity. Position may have some responsibility for other types of categories for the purposes of development and workload allocation.

Individual is experienced at data gathering and familiar with system access and navigation. Strong skills required for data accuracy and completeness. Individual must be able to use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve data integrity and reporting output. Individual exercises judgment in selecting and/or adapting methods for obtaining solutions - taking a new perspective on using existing solutions to solve for complex problems.

Individual demonstrates a strong proficiency for understanding contract terms and working with legal professionals to complete contract and amendment documents.

What you will do in this role:

Project Management:
Ability to independently plan and execute project timelines for assigned projects, with minimal oversight.

Must have:

  • Demonstrated level of organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to translate objectives into project planning priorities, create and manage work plans and timelines for multiple projects and priorities, and finalize all work efforts in the time-frame designated for the project
  • Ability to be highly efficient and productive, demonstrating a high volume of work handled without sacrificing on quality.

Category Knowledge:

  • Understanding or demonstrated ability to learn in-depth aspects of supply products and services:
  • Product features and benefits
  • Product comparisons between supplier offerings
  • Operational impact to provider
  • Future product pipe-line and impact on market
  • Understanding of cost drivers (direct and indirect)
  • End-user groups and sensitivities they have towards the products

Supplier Knowledge:

  • Individual must know and be able to use knowledge about supplier to develop data strategies, create leverage, mitigate risks, anticipate direction of the market and potential supplier direction

Includes, but not limited to:

  • Discuss future product pipelines with suppliers
  • Review current or future technology, including representation of HealthTrust at supplier and/or provider site-visits
  • Investigate new supplier entrants to market
  • Understand the multi-business unit supplier and how they will leverage their capabilities
  • Data and System Knowledge:
  • Develops a clear understanding and quick proficiency for the various systems that will be accessed for all data needs
  • The individual must be able to manage and assemble data in a way that is clear, concise and useable. Data and report requests may include complex results across multiple data sets that will require a high level of report structure and interpretation.
  • Reports and data requests must contemplate a variety of complex considerations. Individual must develop a strong skillset that manages and balances time and effort to achieve the desired outcome.

Communications:

  • Communications are primarily focused on effective and efficient communications with internal stakeholders and suppliers, but includes timely and complete communication efforts.
  • Interfacing with key supply chain executives and end-users in a live environment and assisting with presentation materials and preparation. Capable of securing desired outcomes through persuasion and influence.

Collaboration:

  • Collaboration required with functional team as well as HCA Supply Chain Teams

Financial & Operational Goals:

  • Meet/exceed financial & operational goals in the annual supply expense plan.

Policies & Procedures:

  • Maintain timely achievement of all initiatives ensuring activities adhere to all established policies and procedures and standards of business conduct.

Change Management:

  • Act as a champion for business process change, organizational change, and cultural change. May include participating in process improvement or training initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to create or interpret potentially complex data and financial models
  • Maintain grace under pressure while displaying a high level of professionalism
  • Align internal and external resources to achieve objectives

  • Comprehend, and interpret complex instructions, data sets, and contract language

  • Solid knowledge of all MS Office Products, proficient in the use of Excel, Power BI, Word and Powerpoint.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Accredited College Bachelor's Degree required (Supply Chain, Healthcare, Business, Finance), required
  • 0 -5 years in specialized profession or equivalent. Ideal candidate will have experience in data analysis and reporting as well as some experience with contract finalization.
  • Supply chain operations is preferred
  • Healthcare knowledge is preferred
