Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse to join our team. As a Psychiatric Nurse, you will provide specialized care to patients with mental health disorders. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients. Your role will involve administering medications, monitoring patient progress, and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments to evaluate patients' mental health status
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans
- Administer medications and monitor their effectiveness and side effects
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including counseling and psychoeducation, to help patients manage their mental health conditions
- Monitor and document patient progress, including changes in symptoms and behaviors
- Assist with discharge planning and coordinate follow-up care for patients
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care for patients transitioning between different healthcare settings
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies
Skills:
- Strong patient care skills with a focus on providing compassionate and empathetic care
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to psychiatric disorders and treatments
- Proficiency in administering injections and other medical procedures as required
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is required
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems for documentation purposes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues
Requirements:
- Valid NP license in Montana
- Previous experience in psychiatric nursing is highly desirable
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and priorities
