Essential Functions:

Community Support Team Supervisor provides, within the context of specific service definitions, clinical guidance, and supervisory oversight to other clinicians on their team. They may also provide direct interventions with persons served including psychotherapy, counseling, and coordination/development of the person-centered plan..

Community Support Team (CST) Mental Health Clinical Supervisor Responsibilities:
  • Provides clinical guidance, supervision and training to the CST members in the team’s interventions with the recipient using client-centered motivational interviewing, harm reduction, DBT, and other modalities that are used with individuals with dual diagnoses.
  • Maintains a small caseload and provides individual recovery-based therapy for recipients served by the team.
  • Designates the appropriate team staff to provide needed interventions so that specialized expertise is applied as clinically indicated for each participant.
  • Completes and signs all documentation, when necessary, per Rule 140 requirements, including IMCANS and Addendums, and ensure chart compliance.
  • Provides and coordinates the assessment and reassessment of the participant’s clinical needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult mental illness and treatment modalities for working with individuals with chronic serious mental illness. Skill in the use of motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and engaging clients in self-directed care.
  • Ensure that care provided integrates all facets of clients’ lives including mental/emotional health, physical health/wellness, employment and education, social and family relationships, substance use/abuse issues, and housing needs.
  • Provides the clinical supervision of all members of the team for the provision of this service. An individual supervision plan is required for all CST members.
  • Manages referrals and determines team caseload by the level of acuity and the needs of the individual served.
  • Facilitates daily CST team meetings to coordinate care, assignments and issues.
  • Coordinate and participate in 24/7 on-call scheduling
  • Monitor staffing needs and participate in hiring and orientation of new staff
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Provides evaluative and coaching feedback to providers under supervision according to policy.
  • Ensures compliance with evidence-based practice. Provides detailed reports as required.
  • Participates in ongoing Quality Improvement activities and internal/external trainings.
  • IM-CANS certified or obtain within 30 days
  • Demonstrate ability to provide effective administrative and clinical supervision
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Community Support Team (CST) Mental Health Clinical Supervisor Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate high moral and ethical character, and be free of any substantiated charges of abuse or neglect on the Healthcare Registry;
  • Experience in community-based services preferred.
  • Possession of valid Illinois driver’s license and willingness to use personal vehicle in course of employment.
  • H.A.S. requires all staff to work onsite.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field, from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval is preferred.
  • Fully Licensed (LPHA) mental health professional with a LCSW or LCPC is preferred. Qualified Professional (QMHP) or LSW, LPC actively seeking licensure may be considered and position is conditional upon being fully licensed within 3 months from the effective date of hire.
  • Have one-year documented clinical supervisory experience.
  • Have three years documented direct experience with people with mental health and/or substance use diagnoses or other relevant populations that will be served.
