PAY RANGE IS BASED ON EXPERIENCE
Under the general direction and supervision of the Clinic Administrator and/or Provider, prepares patients for clinical encounters to include patient screening and collection of health history, as well as coordinates and follow-up on patient care.
Essential Functions:
Immediate Supervisor: Clinic Administrator; in his/her absence,Chief Operations Officer. Medical Assistant’s must operate off the Physician’s license; therefore, the Physician shall delineate their appropriate scope of practice. The Clinic Administrator shall assure that the Clinical Support Staff operate within the delineated scope of practice. HW/ISU Clinic Immediate Supervisor: Nurse Manager; in his/her absence, Clinic Administrator.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
General office/clinic conditions are pleasant; good, clean working conditions where accident and hazards are negligible; requires short periods of moderate lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to twenty pounds.
Infection Control:
Applies handwashing principles during daily work, demonstrates understanding of isolation precautions; recognizes signs and symptoms and complies with the employee health policies; demonstrates understanding of the process for identifying and handling infectious waste; maintains personal hygiene; demonstrates understanding of cross-contamination and complies with OSHA standards in the work place.
OSHA Classification I: Normal work routine involves potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood and/or body fluids; use of appropriate protective measures is required
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or Equivalent
Graduation from a Practical Nursing Program or Equivalent
Experience
One year recent experience in a health care setting preferred. Current National Medical Assistant Certification preferred. Current Idaho Practical Nursing License or equivalent preferred. Current certification in BLS.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Pediatric and adult injection skills.
Phlebotomy skills.
Current computer skills.
Knowledge of common medical practice equipment.
Knowledge of common outpatient medical documentation.
Knowledge of common office equipment (copier, fax, printer, etc.).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
Ability to work under pressure.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities
