Job Summary:

Health Services Center, Inc (HSC) is an infectious disease clinic specializing in HIV care. HSC has a main clinic and 4 satellite clinics that cover over 900 sq. miles in a 14 county area in East Alabama. HSC is dedicated to providing patients with effective medical treatment and psychiatric healthcare.

We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be down-to-earth, flexible, team-oriented, and empathetic. This person will often collaborate with our mental health counselor, as well as our physician and nurses. The psychiatrist must have extensive knowledge of and experience in psychopharmacology and behavioral therapies. The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive mental health assessments and treatment to patients living with HIV. This role requires expertise in crisis management, addiction counseling, and patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate individuals who are referred for psychiatric assessment
• Diagnose individuals based on psychiatric evaluation, develop treatment plans, and provide supportive psychotherapy and psychopharmacology when appropriate
• Provide crisis intervention and assessment
• Diagnose and treat mental health and emotional disorders
• Prescribe and monitor medications when necessary
• Maintain detailed records of patient visits and progress in the electronic medical records system
• Assist in the development of individualized treatment plans
• Collaborate with on-site mental health counselor to communicate with other medical providers.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Medical degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification in Psychiatry
• Valid state medical license to practice as a psychiatrist in Alabama.
• Credentialed with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, Medicaid and Medicare
• Registration for prescribing controlled substances
• Extensive knowledge of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology
• Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills
• Ability to work effectively with persons living with HIV
