OverviewJob SummaryWorks under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner and performs various general respiratory care duties to include respiratory care treatments, oxygen administration, suctioning, and arterial blood gas puncture and analysis. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or arrange for the provision of care for neonatal to geriatric patients.
Essential Functions
Education, Experience And CertificationsCurrently enrolled in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Care educational program approved by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and successful completion 1 year of such program required. Registered with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) as an RCA required. Completed competency evaluations for each of the duties of the job required. BLS required per policy guidelines. Additional certifications per facility/policy standards.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
- Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and ensures and documents that age specific needs are being met as described in the department policies and procedures. Provides and assesses effectiveness of patient and family education.
- Performs respiratory care treatments and oxygen administration.
- Suctions patients and obtains and runs ABG samples.
