WIC Peer Counselor (Breastfeeding Counselor)

The Health Department of Northwest Michigan is seeking candidates for a 20 hours per week WIC Peer Counselor (Breastfeeding Counselor) position located in either our Emmet or Charlevoix office. This is a paraprofessional support position that provides breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, along with providing information regarding other Health Department program opportunities and assisting with enrollment in them. This position may also provide lactation training and support to the WIC staff.

Education / Experience

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with the ability to work with several different computer programs. Previous experience with breastfeeding at least one child is required. Experience working with WIC clients and guidelines desired.
