 What will I be doing?  

  • Complete SAFE (Structured Analysis Family Evaluation) home studies for prospective foster parents
  • Evaluate the prospective foster parents’ readiness and ability to work with traumatized children and youth
  • Work in cooperation with internal team members to promote safety, permanency and wellbeing of foster youth and families by completing SAFE studies that address all the mandated elements that would indicate whether the environment is satisfactory for placement of children
  • Certify foster homes in compliance with COMAR regulations.
  • Updates all foster parent files to ensure their full compliance with COMAR regulations

 Am I a good fit?

  • Must be able to drive with a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to answer a phone and make calls to and from foster parents, service providers
  • Must be able to work on a computer to update foster parent’s records, communicate with foster parents and request documentations from service providers.
  • Must be able to use a fax, copier, or scanner to receive and forward required documents from foster parents and service providers.
  • Must be able to verbally present to team to report the progress of foster parents and recertification assignments.
  • Must be able to read and interpret policy, regulations and guidance to reach, educate and train foster parent(s).
  • Must be able to verbally communicate and be able to read, interpret reports, documents received from applicants and service providers.
  • Must have completed SAFE (Structured Analysis Family Evaluation) Training
  • Must have Knowledge of COMAR: Private Foster Care .07.05.02
  • Must be able to complete 2-3 home visits and complete a home study within 4 weeks of assignment
  • Must be flexible and available to complete home visits after business hours
  • Must have excellent writing skills

 Qualifications:  

  • Masters of Social Work; SAFE (Structured Analysis Family Evaluation) certified
  • Licensed Graduate Social Worker with five or more years experience in foster care; AND/OR 3 or more years experience in case management with school systems, military agencies, social services, public and/or private community agencies, churches, civic organizations or the courts working with children and families.
  • OR Licensed Graduate Social Worker with two or more year’s experience of completing SAFE home studies
