 What will I be doing?

  • Build positive, engaged relationships with parents that motivate them for change, help them identify their strengths and needs, and support family success. 
  • Build trusting, engaged relationships with children to be a source of support, help them identify their strengths and needs, and advocate for their wishes. 
  • Travel between Gainesville, GA and Dallas, GA, in order to provide services to children and families 
  • Work with all families in an equitable, culturally responsive, and empowering manner. 
  • Facilitate permanency, family connections, and community supports. 
  • Assist in the recruitment and assessment of foster parents, and engage in collaborative relationships with foster parents. 
  • Facilitate relationships between birth parents and foster families. 
  • Help foster families provide a safe, nurturing environment. 
  • Collaborate with other units, systems, and service providers. 
  • Link the child to services and supports specified in the treatment plan. 
  • Coordinate services and service planning with other agencies and providers involved with the child by arranging, as needed, medical, remedial, and dental services.
  • Assist the child to locate or obtain needed services and resources. 
  • Promote self-care, identify triggers and effects of secondary traumatic stress and countertransference, and access supports to address concerns.
  • Assess periodically to determine the child’s needs for psychosocial, nutritional, medical, and education services. 
  • Monitor and follows up by assessing ongoing progress in each case and ensure services are delivered. 
  • Continually evaluate and review each child’s plan of care. 
  • Collaborate with the family assessment and planning teams and other involved parties on reviews and coordination of services to children and their families.
  • Collaborate closely with the family assessment and planning teams and other involved parties in preparation of all case plans.
  • Educate and counsel by guiding the child and developing a supportive relationship that promotes the treatment plan. 
  • Participate in the PQI process and strategic planning process.
  • Maintain a current driver’s license, a safe driving record, current vehicle insurance, and always maintain his/her vehicle in safe operating condition.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, to support operations and mission of the Company.

  • Knowledgeable about relevant provisions of the Indian Child Welfare Act. 
  • Must provide services while being sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Must Independently transport self in his/her own vehicle to provide services in the in- home/community-based service milieu, attend meetings, and, if necessary, transport clients occasionally. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage time well 

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work or other human services field, including sociology, psychology, special education, or counselling 

OR 

  • Two (2) years of experience providing casework services to children and families
