REGISTERED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST
The Registered Respiratory Therapist I assumes clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities. The RRT performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities to determine the effect of treatment on the disease process. The Therapist exercises considerable independent judgment in the development of care plans in assessing and treating patients.
Responsibilities
Assesses and provides recommendations in the development of a plan of care for patients in the provision of respiratory care> Implements the care of the patients upon physician order or defined protocols following defined time standards, and modifies the plan of care based on patient condition and response.
Initiates and monitors respiratory medication administration, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures per standards. Documents accurately all required information in the patient’s medical record and enters all information for billing and productivity requirements.
Performs arterial and capillary blood gases per standards insuring all documentation is entered. Maintains knowledge in performance, interpretation of data and appropriate intervention in the care of the patient with blood gases. Performs basic maintenance and troubleshooting of the blood gas machines, and in compliance with CAP/CLIA regulations.
Develops professional skills and knowledge and promotes continuous improvement of workplace practices. Other duties as assigned.
Other Information
Minimum Requirements:
· Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy · Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
· BLS
· ACLS
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy
· ACLS
· Three (3) or more years of experience in respiratory care · Experience with EPIC EHR or similar EHR system
