As part of its continued efforts to maintain a safe workplace for employees, Health Care Center for the Homeless dba Orange Blossom Family Health requires that all newly hired employees be fully vaccinated (as defined by the CDC) against the coronavirus by the first day of employment as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by applicable law. HCCH/OBFH will consider requests for reasonable accommodations due to medical and/or religious reasons on an individual basis in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
Position Summary: Dental hygienist will provide competent and professional dental hygiene services under the general supervision of a Dental Clinic licensed dentist. Hygienists will be an Oral Health advocate for our homeless and uninsured patients.
Responsibilities:
A. Patient Care
1. Provide dental hygiene services and preventative care as prescribed by treating dentists and authorized by Florida State Statute.
2. Effectively teaches and works to motivate each patient about their Oral Health.
3. Demonstrates proficiency and professionalism in providing hygiene services to clinic patients.
4. Explains procedures and reviews treatment plan with the patient.
5. Demonstrates proficiency providing preventive services to children in the Clinic or on the MDU.
6. Effectively communicates with patient.
B. Support for Dental Services
1. Works to guarantee a smooth flowing, efficient Clinic.
2. Completes documentation appropriately and accurately in accordance with Clinic standards.
3. Assures that treatment room is clean, organized and free of hazards at all times.
4. Assures that instruments and cassettes are properly sterilized and ready for clinic use.
5. Adheres to appropriate infection control protocols and procedures.
6. Uses and maintains dental equipment in appropriate manner.
7. Assist the Director of Oral Health Services in keeping the dental clinic in compliance with all government regulations including OSHA, fire safety, radiation precautions, biohazards waste, etc
8. Providing leadership and to assisting in training and updating staff.
9. Follows directions and completes assignments given by Managers.

9. Demonstrates commitment to the mission of HCCH to provide quality health care services that improve the lives of the homeless and medically indigent people in our community.
D. Safety
1. Provides a safe environment for the patient and staff.
2. Demonstrates understanding of safety procedures.
3. Identifies environmental hazards and unsafe conditions and immediately reports them to Manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Registered Dental Hygienist licensed by the State of Florida
· Current CPR for Professionals
· A strong clinical background with a broad range of dental and organizational experience.
· Compassionate, skilled educator, able to work with compromised populations.
· Ability to effectively use computers for paperless dental records.
· Excellent written and verbal skills.
· Motivated to work hard, to learn and to progress in knowledge and skills.
