Healing To You is Hiring a Mental Health Clinician - Domestic Violence Mobile Clinic, San Diego County Near San Diego, CA

Job Summary:

The Mental Health Clinician will report to the Clinical Director and Chief Operating Officer, and work closely with the mobile clinic staff and community partners to ensure the successful delivery of mental health care services to children and adult survivors of domestic violence. The Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for providing trauma-informed services and interventions on the mobile clinic for domestic violence shelter residents. The successful candidate will work closely with medical and clinical personnel, shelter staff, and community partners to ensure the smooth functioning of the clinics, including scheduling appointments, coordinating transportation, managing supplies and equipment, and maintaining accurate records.

The Mental Health Clinician will:

 Provide mobile clinic-based face-to-face case management, systems navigation/linkage services, general counseling, service planning, assessment, crisis intervention, and advocacy services with child and adult residents of domestic violence shelters.

 Provide psychotherapy services, including individual and groups, to families as needed.

 Address client and family mental health concerns, self-awareness, problem-solving, development of insight, unresolved trauma, parental awareness, and emotional health, etc.

 Collaborate with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and other referral sources to coordinate services and service plan goals.

 Review assessment and screening information with parents/caregivers, develop action plans, program goals, and review progress made on a quarterly basis or as required by program.

 Assist client families in increasing and improving protective factors and reducing risks for or further child abuse and/or neglect.

 Adhere to child abuse reporting mandates and legal and ethical standards.

 Participate in training's and certifications of evidence-based practice approaches.

 Establish rapport, trust, and professional relationships with coworkers, supervisors, community, and stakeholders.

 Participate in reflective supervision, clinical training, case conference, and consultation as required by the contract; and adhere to Board of Behavioral Sciences State regulations, if applicable.

 Attend administrative meetings held by agency, program, community, or County, as required.

 Attend peer review meetings and maintain quality assurance standards as per contract.

 Establish and maintain a current and accurate record-keeping system. Ensure all family chart files are up to date and accurate.

 Report to work at scheduled times, be open to flexible hours to meet the needs of the client families, and maintain good attendance.

 Other duties as assigned.

 Provide Infant massage education.

 Screen and refer for OT, PT, Regional Center, Speech and Language services.

Qualifications:

- Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university. Some experience in Behavioral Health or other social services is desired.

- Applicants must be registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor or Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.

- Experience providing clinical assessments, individual and family therapy to children and adults.

- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or other vulnerable populations.

- Knowledge of principles of social work, counseling, casework and other techniques of social work; social aspects of mental and emotional disturbances; new techniques, trends and advances in the profession; standard office equipment; and clerical activities related to an organization's programs and operations.

- Ability to apply casework skills effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others (clients and staff); secure and record accurate and pertinent social and personal data; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; operate standard office equipment; and operate a motor vehicle.

- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Ability to work in close proximity with coworkers and patients on a mobile clinic.

- Proficient in Google Suit, Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance.

- Bilingual Spanish required.

- Forty-hour Domestic Violence Certificate or willingness to earn certificate.

- If a survivor, at least two years out of the relationship.

This is a full-time position, 36 hours/4 days per week; mobile clinic staff work 3, 10-hour days on the mobile clinic and 6 hours of remote work at home or in office for supervision, meetings, and/or training.

Salary range is $70,000 - $80,000 per year; FLSA status is exempt.

Benefits: 2 weeks paid time off per year, health/dental/vision insurance, 401K, and life insurance.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to the position must complete a criminal background check, Live Scan, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer. Ability to drive a vehicle and to travel to attend meetings off-site and throughout the state, meet with community groups, and staff to conduct training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. Physical requirements for the mental health therapist primarily center around creating a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment. Therapists should be mobile enough to move around their office, including sitting, kneeling, or getting on the floor when necessary for therapy activities. Ensuring a child-friendly space may involve adding child-sized furniture, toys, and art supplies, which therapists should be capable of managing. Good vision and hearing are essential for observing and understanding children's behavior and communication. Therapists also need to maintain a safe environment, addressing any potential hazards. Additionally, therapists must have emotional resilience to work effectively with children, especially those with challenging behaviors or emotional distress, although this is not strictly a physical requirement. Therapists must be able to walk up stairs on the mobile health clinic and navigate close quarters with colleagues.
