Healing Paws Veterinary Clinic in Springfield, MO, is hiring for an experienced veterinary assistant or RVT. This is a full time position, working four to five days per week. Clinic Hours are 7:30-5:30 Monday through Friday, Saturday 8:00-12:00, and rotating weekend and holiday duty.

The position includes interacting with clients in person and on the telephone, often those who are under stress or in emergency situations. It also includes computerized scheduling, dispensing medication, routine office tasks, and cleaning.

Must be able perform skilled technician duties, including, but not limited to, proper medical record history, collect, run and read lab samples, discharge of all routine surgeries, perform nail trims, ear cleaning, anal gland expressions, review prescribed medication, products, and diets. Additional duties include restraining animals as necessary, assisting in surgery, and monitoring anesthesia, and placing iv catheters.

Excellent face to face people skills and telephone skills are required. Superior organization, outstanding computer skills, and compassionate care for animals is required.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with animals in a professional setting
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and animal care practices
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
- Proficiency in animal catheterization techniques
- Familiarity with kennel operations and animal husbandry practices
- Basic understanding of pet grooming techniques
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a team environment
