Job Summary: We are currently seeking an exceptionally skilled and compassionate Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) to join our esteemed team at Healing House. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive addiction counseling services, facilitating group therapy sessions, and providing individualized care to individuals seeking outpatient treatment. Your expertise and dedication will play a vital role in supporting our clients' recovery journeys and fostering lasting positive change.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate weekly group therapy sessions, fostering a safe and nurturing environment that encourages participants to share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs.
  • Conduct regular reviews of treatment plans, ensuring they are aligned with clients' goals, progress, and evolving needs.
  • Deliver individual counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions to address addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders effectively.
  • Employ a person-centered approach to empower participants, promote self-awareness, and foster a sense of accountability in their recovery process.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client interactions, progress notes, and treatment plans in strict adherence to ethical and legal standards, including compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Actively engage in clinical supervision and team meetings to discuss cases, seek guidance, and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant legal and ethical standards, including HIPAA regulations, state licensing requirements, and professional codes of conduct.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the outpatient treatment program.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to clients in acute distress and make appropriate referrals for emergency mental health or medical care.
  • Engage in case management activities, such as coordinating referrals for additional services, advocating for clients' needs, and assisting with the coordination of care across multiple providers.
  • Assist clients in developing relapse prevention plans and strategies for managing triggers and high-risk situations.

Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) training or willingness to attend and complete the training within a specified timeframe.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating group therapy sessions and conducting individual counseling within the addiction treatment field.
  • Thorough knowledge of addiction dynamics, evidence-based treatment approaches, and the recovery process.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling the establishment of strong rapport and therapeutic alliances with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals struggling with addiction.
  • Sound understanding of ethical guidelines and legal requirements governing addiction counseling, including strict adherence to client confidentiality and privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA).

  • Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.
  • Proficiency in utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or other evidence-based therapeutic modalities to address underlying issues and romote relapse prevention.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to assess complex situations and develop effective intervention strategies.
  • Cultural competency and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse populations and communities.
  • Familiarity with community resources and referrals to provide comprehensive support to clients beyond counseling sessions.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record systems or counseling software for accurate documentation and record keeping.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction principles and strategies to support individuals in reducing the negative consequences of substance use.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively manage a caseload of clients and meet documentation requirements.
  • Continuous commitment to professional growth and staying updated on emerging research and best practices in the field of substance use disorder counseling.

Physical Duties (as needed):
