Senior Applications Engineer - Remote Sensing Products

We are seeking a creative and driven Senior Applications Engineer, focused on identifying, developing, and improving applications for our hyperspectral sensors. The ideal candidate will have experience in building classification algorithms, troubleshooting in real time, and a passion for delivering impactful user experiences. As a key player in executing our company strategy, you will work closely with product management, sales, marketing, and our customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize applications for hyperspectral sensors operated on unmanned and manned aircraft.
• Conduct feasibility studies and develop prototypes for various applications.
• Understand and analyze user requirements, converting them into functional and efficient solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and system engineers, to ensure seamless integration of our hyperspectral sensors.
• Perform regular performance testing and troubleshooting to maintain optimal system operation.
• Provide technical support to clients, including training, troubleshooting, and addressing any concerns related to the applications.
• Stay abreast with the latest technological advancements in hyperspectral imaging, drones, and related fields.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations and demos for clients and at industry events.

Required Skills & Experience:

• MS or PhD in Chemistry, Physical Sciences, or Engineering with 5 years in a similar role, or BS in these fields with 10 years in a similar role.
• Solid background in image processing, remote sensing, data analysis, and classification algorithms.
• Proficient in programming languages like Python, C , or MATLAB.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong technical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience in delivering technical presentations.
• Positive attitude fostering a pro-active ethos in the team and department.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required (at or above 20% of the time), including international travel and overnight stays. Able to work outside core hours when required.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Strong theoretical and practical understanding of hyperspectral imaging principles and drone technology.
• Experience with hyperspectral imaging and software packages such as ENVI and MATLAB.
• Experience with characterization of imaging systems including radiometric and spectral characterization, image quality, and performance metrics.
• Familiarity with algorithm development related to signal/pattern recognition/classification, large image data manipulation.
• Working knowledge of airborne imaging applications, orthorectification, and spectral libraries.
