Teaching:

Demonstrate skilland/or knowledge in teaching discipline.

 

Makecontinuouseffortstoimprovethequalityofinstructionbyreviewingandutilizinginnovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.

 

Developanduseasyllabusforeachcourseorlaboratorywithincollege,discipline,anddepartmental guidelines and submit onecopy to the department chair.

 

Plan,develop,anduseavarietyofteachingmethodsandmaterialsthatassiststudentsinmeetingcourseobjectivesandwhichareappropriateforstudentswithdifferingeducational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.

 

Evaluatestudents tomeasuretheirprogresstowardachievementofstatedcourseobjectives and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.

 

Keepaccuratestudentrecordsandsubmitrelatedreportsandformswithinrequestedtimelines.

 

Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learningmaterials.

Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.

Useequipmentandfacilitiesresponsiblyandcourteously.Whereappropriate,assistthechair with the routine maintenance of instructional laboratories.

 

Demonstratecompetenceandinterestintheuseoftechnologyintheclassroomandwillingnessto explorenew instructional methodologies.

 

Advising:

Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, andthe community.

 

Provideaccesstostudentsthroughconferencing,electroniccommunication,andotherappropriatemethods.Provideadviceandassistancetostudentsregardinginstructional or program-specific issues.

 

Makepresentationsonaparticularacademicfieldorprogram-itssubjectmatter,objectives,opportunitiesforfurtherstudy(transferopportunities),andopportunitiesforwork(co-ops,part-time,work-study)andcareers,specialclubsandactivitiesavailable,support services, scholarships, etc.

 

WorkwithChairtotakeonappropriateadvisingactivitiesasneededbytheCollegeandDepartment.(Forexamples,pleaserefertotheHCCFacultyWorkloadGuidelines).

 

Professional Development:

Establishannualobjectivesforprofessionalgrowthinconsultationwiththedepartmentchair.

 

Keep pace with developments inthe discipline.

 

Learn and apply technologies that support student learning.Participate in the evaluation process for self, department, and college.

 

Institutional andCommunityService:

MaintaincommunicationwithChairandDean as appropriate.Supportadjunct faculty. Demonstrate teamworkwithin an interdisciplinarycollege division.

 

Promoteprogrammingwithin the department, across the District andinthe larger community.

 

Participateinscheduledinstitutionalserviceactivitiesincludingopeningweekevents,conference days, and commencement exercises.

 

Participate in discipline committee or program meetings and activities.

 

Actively participate in department, college or system meetings and/ or committees.

 

Be familiar with and adhere to all policies and procedures of HCCS.

 

Participateincollege-relatedactivitiessuchasstudentactivities,selectionoffaculty,community education, recruitmentof students, and/or special programs.

 

Participateinbusinessand/orstudentactivitiesand/orcommunityactivitiesthatfostergoodwill and promote the mission of HCCS.

 

Participate in activities required to maintain program and college accreditationstandards.

 

Participate in the HCCS planning process by assisting in the formulation ofdepartmental objectives and goals and in establishing budget priorities.

 

Review,evaluate,andreviseprogramcurriculaandpracticestoassurecompliancewithprofessionalstandards,state-mandatedguidelinesandrequirementsofbusiness/industry, and higher education.

 

Assistinthearticulationofcoursesandprogramswithsecondaryandpost-secondaryinstitutions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Toperformthisjobsuccessfully,anindividualmustbeabletoperformtheessentialdutiesandresponsibilitieslistedabove.Thequalificationslistedbelowarerepresentative of the education, experience, knowledge,skills and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science, Engineering or in a related field is required.

Exceptional experience in a directly related field may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.


Master’s Degree preferred


EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years experience of industry related experience
Direct experience with petroleum data management (exploration, drilling and production, performance and facilities), exploration and production, drilling and well head maintenance and operations, reservoir engineering, basic petroleum geology, LNG, hydrocarbon safety, petroleum industry software applications (geophysical/ geological mapping/ surveying, operations, data acquisitions, etc.), refining operations, and other related petroleum operations
Experience with supervision/ training of operators and engineering technicians (technologists)
Experience in the development of curriculum and instructional materials; Instruction experience at college level preferred
