Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Simulation Specialist is responsible for integrating, maintaining, and operating computer and audio-video (AV) technology. This includes manikin and surrounding simulation lab equipment. The Medical Simulation Specialist plays an essential role in facilitating medical simulation for the division.

Experience:

EMS Provider – 3 years

What qualifications you will need:
  • Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) REQUIRED

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a team with other GCD leaders and physicians
  • Able to safely drive an ambulance on public roads
  • Insurable to operate company owned vehicles

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in education to first responders, nurses, physicians, and the public
  • Attend meetings as necessary
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external partners
  • Develops and maintains cooperative and professional relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other agencies, hospitals, departments and organizations
  • Participate on a team to ensure quality, safety, and appropriate use of equipment
  • Ability to utilize a personal computer with word processing, spreadsheet, and related software to effectively complete a variety of spreadsheets and reports with reasonable speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to plan and organize daily work routine. Establishes priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time management methodology.
  • Ability to listen and understand directions, information and ideas presented verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle a variety of customer service issues with tact and diplomacy in a confidential manner.
  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and ‘Mission and Value Statement
  • You will monitor and ensure simulation- and education-based technologies are maintained to ensure minimal downtime.
  • You will assess and remedy equipment failures in a timely fashion.
  • You will evaluate simulation- and education-based technology results to identify opportunities for improvement in internal or external customer satisfaction and/or patient experience.
  • You will operate and assist with the simulators and task trainers for all types of training sessions.
  • You will provide orientation, consultation, and support for simulation laboratory procedures. This will include the location and use of materials and operation of equipment.
  • You will identify performance opportunities or training needs related to clinical simulation. You will provide coaching, development, and training to improve performance.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
  • Requires the ability to travel from one location to another within and around the Division’s service areas. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires ability to work with a partner to lift and maneuver a standard EMS stretcher with simulated patient. Frequently required to work early morning and evenings. Regular (at least once a month) overnight travel. Work is occasionally performed in an outdoor environment at off site locations.
