POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform patient care and cardiac monitoring duties, in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of GCRMC.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential core function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, experience, and ability necessary to perform this job.
ESSENTIAL CORE FUNCTIONS:
1. Continually and accurately assesses patient's cardiac rhythm and reports changes to the Nurse.
2. Promptly and correctly initiates telemetry.
3. Accurately documents rhythm strips on admission and discharge, every 4 hours, and with any change in rhythm.
4. Effectively customizes alarm system for each patient if applicable.
5. Demonstrates preparation of the telemetry transmitter and cable.
6. Demonstrates ability to change recorder paper.
7. Anticipates, orders and stores telemetry supplies.
8. Cleans equipment per policy using universal precautions.
9. Routinely triages patients on telemetry every 24, 48 & 72 hours.
10. Report any malfunctioning equipment through the chain of command and enter work orders.
11. Assists with patient/family/significant other’s learning needs, abilities and readiness to learn. Identifies barriers to learning, such as language or culture. Integrates this information into the patient’s plan of care.
12. Identifies and documents patient/family/SO’s education needs in collaboration with other disciplines and implements an on-going education relevant to these needs.
13. Explains the purpose of telemetry monitoring and equipment to patient and family throughout the course of treatment.
14. Documents patient teaching on appropriate teaching tool for each teaching episode.
15. Provides teaching material as needed (pamphlets, video tapes, etc.) to enhance patient teaching.
16. Collaborates with other health care providers in developing a teaching plan for patient.
17. Ensures patient/family/SO understand discharge instructions.
18. Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance.
19. Other duties as assigned.

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is a 238-bed acute care hospital. For 40 years, we have served Bay County and the surrounding communities. We are an accredited facility offering comprehensive care. This includes advanced cardiac assessment and treatment. We offer certified women's services. Our hospital has dedicated spaces for adult and pediatric emergency services. We are certified in Advanced Primary Stroke Care. Our hospital is accredited as a Comprehensive Breast Care Center. We are the area's only Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation. Other services that we offer include orthopedic care and joint replacement, robotic surgery, cardiac, vascular, and interventional services. We are home to the only Pediatric ER in the community. We have the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the region. Together, we continue to raise the bar in healthcare.
