Front End (UX) Developer

Department: Technology

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Description

HC Brands specializes in customizing and selling thousands of products that help our customers make connections. We are a fast, profitable, growing ecommerce company that markets ourselves through a wide range of ecommerce channels and marketplaces. We take pride in offering products that are unique and that help each of our customers develop meaningful connections in their personal and professional lives.
Our Front End (UX) Developer at HC Brands is pivotal in ensuring the company's digital presence is both compelling and user-friendly, directly influencing the company's growth and success in the e-commerce landscape.
That's where you come in. 🙌
You must be highly adaptable, capable of rapidly responding to changes in technology and user expectations to ensure the platform remains cutting-edge and user-friendly. You should possess strong collaborative skills, ready to work closely with product managers, designers, and developers to translate complex requirements into intuitive web solutions. Additionally, a robust technical foundation in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and contemporary frameworks like React, coupled with a keen eye for design and user experience, is essential to excel in creating seamless interfaces.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement user interface designs using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS in a React framework.
  • Collaborate with product management to create solutions for real-world problems, enhancing the overall user experience on the e-commerce platform.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reusable code that complies with modern web standards and best practices.
  • Work closely with UX designers to translate design concepts into functional and engaging web applications.
  • Respond swiftly to marketing requests, ensuring timely updates and feature implementations to support business objectives.
  • Participate in the full development lifecycle, including planning, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Employ user testing feedback to refine and improve the user interface and experience.
  • Maintain and update the existing product UI and content management system to ensure consistency and relevance.
  • Actively contribute to the team’s knowledge sharing, innovation, and technology adoption practices.

To do well in this role you’ll need to have:

  • Have a Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in client-side app development (jQuery/HTML/CSS, REST, JSON).
  • 3 years crafting JavaScript web applications and UI components.
  • 2 years with AngularJS, Bootstrap, NodeJS, Compass, or similar.
  • Proficiency with Github for distributed source control.
  • Comfort with all SDLC phases and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Above all else though, my advice for anyone looking to work at HC Brands is very simple; you have to want to be here. It won't be enough to show up to the interview and be capable. We are a small company with extremely talented people who creatively solve unique problems as they arise. Do your homework. Look at our website, our blogs, and our products. Get to understand what we're about, and come to the interview with that insight ready to tell us how you could play a part in that success.
